CfSC Cycling Trends Analysis Project

The CfSC Cycling Trends Analysis Project (CTAP) automatic bike counter project proposal, reported on in theSpring 2009 issue of Chain Mail, is still under consideration for funding by Transport Canada under their “Moving on Sustainable Transport” programme. The decision date has slipped to early October. The CTAP project goal is to install eight automatic bike traffic count stations at locations with high bike traffic across Ottawa/Gatineau; typically on NCC pathways.

In the mean-time, CfSC has managed to install a test site on the Alexandra Bridge (with the close co-operation with NCC and support by the counter vendor.

Detailed data on cyclists crossing the bridge has been captured by this counter in 15 minute increments, since June 11th.
