Thank you for giving me this opportunity to respond to your survey. I have reviewed your list and I believe that you have identified some very worth while projects for the City to undertake.
I am not able to support the entire platform, as it is important to take everything into consideration at budget time and identify priorities to pursue. I do fully agree that the City needs to approve more cycling projects and promote this form of transportation and recreation in our communities. I am also pleased that the City was able to take advantage of the Federal and Provincial Stimulus funding in order to advance long awaited initiatives, and I understand the need to keep this momentum going. I also agree that integrating cycling with Transit is important and that the successful Rack & Roll program needs to be expanded.
Specifically within my ward and community I wanted to highlight some of the recent initiatives taken which will improve cycling conditions. We are currently working on pathways between Tenth Line and Hiawatha at a total investment of $350,000. As well as. 6 km trail from St. Joseph to Hiawatha. I also supported the 2.5 Million long distance trail connecting Prescott Russell to Montreal .
I would also would like to congratulate your group for the hard work that you have done with the Rack & Roll program, promoting safe cycling, and the creation of a cycling plan. Moving forward I will continue to support cycling in the City of Ottawa and I believe that we are moving forward in the right direction to promote and offer safe cycling in Ottawa .

1.Major cycling projects
Roads, transitway, cycling and pedestrian paths all comprise of an integrated transportation plan for the city. All plans for transit should include an integrated approach in with the plan, which includes safe cycling routes.
2. Completing the Ottawa Cycling Plan
The City has published a cycling plan (2008), and listed the budget of $26.6 million over the 10-year timeframe. Depending on budget constraints and commitments, I would support the proposed plan.
3. Integrating Cycling with Transit
I would support this initiative, again depending on budget constraints.
4. Police pro-cycling campaigns
I have no problem with putting in place scheduled blitzes and education programs for all users of the roadway.
5. More bike parking
Concur with statement. Although it appears to be any easy fix (re-zoning, adding more parking spaces), a well thought out and integrated approach needs to be planned so locations are not adhoc throughout the city.
6. Keeping bike lanes snow-free
This would be dependent on the budget constraints.
7. Reinstate cycling safety and promotion programs
See comment 4 above.
An updated cycling map can be part of the tourism budget.
8. Cyclist representation to the City
I concur with the schedule of increasing the number of times to host a meeting.
All plans are available for public consultant now and I do not see a need to change this. It will be up to the general public, including cyclists to attend these open discussions.
9. Let's measure up!
Concur.
