1.Major cycling projects
Roads, transitway, cycling and pedestrian paths all comprise of an integrated transportation plan for the city. All plans for transit should include an integrated approach in with the plan, which includes safe cycling routes.
2. Completing the Ottawa Cycling Plan
The City has published a cycling plan (2008), and listed the budget of $26.6 million over the 10-year timeframe. Depending on budget constraints and commitments, I would support the proposed plan.
3. Integrating Cycling with Transit
I would support this initiative, again depending on budget constraints.
4. Police pro-cycling campaigns
I have no problem with putting in place scheduled blitzes and education programs for all users of the roadway.
5. More bike parking
Concur with statement. Although it appears to be any easy fix (re-zoning, adding more parking spaces), a well thought out and integrated approach needs to be planned so locations are not adhoc throughout the city.
6. Keeping bike lanes snow-free
This would be dependent on the budget constraints.
7. Reinstate cycling safety and promotion programs
See comment 4 above.
An updated cycling map can be part of the tourism budget.
8. Cyclist representation to the City
I concur with the schedule of increasing the number of times to host a meeting.
All plans are available for public consultant now and I do not see a need to change this. It will be up to the general public, including cyclists to attend these open discussions.
9. Let's measure up!
Concur.
