I have been an avid supporter of cycling both as an alternative means of transportation in our city as well as for recreational purposes. To this end I was one of the key supporters of the Corktown Bridge and I intend to work on building another such pedestrian and cycling bridge between the communities of Vanier and Sandy Hill. I will continue to promote and support initiatives that favour safe cycling in our city.

There is definitely a need for reviving the city's public transportation structure for cyclists. The city of Ottawa should treat cycling more than just a recreational activity - especially for those who use it to commute from one place to another. The city should make more accommodations for people looking for a safe and convenient route for cycling into the downtown core. First, I think bike lanes should not stop midway through a busy road. There are bike paths that don't connect to one another or to important roads such as Rideau St. This is a case in my ward where, if you were to bike on Wilbrod St. you do not get on to main roads - bringing you no where. Secondly, the Cummings bridge (linking Rideau St to Montreal Rd) is particularly one of the dangerous bridges for cyclists. There is no bike path on both sides, just one going up the bridge. We need to find a solution to this type of challenge. Many people live and work between Vanier and Sandy Hill and it only seems reasonable to build a footbridge between Strathcona Park and Riverain Park. As a devoted cyclist, I fully support cycling-friendly projects and programs. The city needs to take leadership and set an example. We need to be serious on cycling pilot projects.

"I am a Candidate for Rideau-Vanier and I do support in the fullest the concept of promoting Cycling in the city, being an  activity directly relating to citizen's Physical & mental health,self-esteem,environmental protection, transportation, economics etc  and I do believe that the City of Ottawa MUST do much  more than what it has done so far  to promote, encourage and also to create an safe environment for cycling IN EACH AND EVERY WARD IN THE CITY.

You will appreciate the fact that my ward Rideau-Vanier,as it stands at present,IS NOT A SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD FOR CYCLING, being the most backward ward the City in terms of its historical bad reputation for criminality, drug trade, sex trade, thievery, unemployment, Homelessness etc to name a few, that makes AN UNSAFE SURROUNDINGS FOR CYCLING IN THE WARD and You will see these are the  prioritized issues to be immediately addressed once I am elected.

I will assure of,You not only my fullest support in the city council for Safe Cycling in the city in principles but also to create an safe, sound and decent neighborhood in Vanier, Byward market,University and Sandyhill that ensures the safety of all the  cyclists those who wish to cycle in this ward."
