"I think you know how I vote on cycling, I am proud to be the author of the motion that brings the Prescott Russell trail into Ottawa to connect with our cycling network. As you are aware, my pet peeve is about missing links in our cycling and pathway network, such as Cyrville Road.
You would also know that I probably log more clicks on a bike than most councillors except for maybe Hunter and Cullen."

"I support cyclists / bikes - There are rules of the road for them too. I am happy to see someone is providing the city at least 9 ways which could getting more people cycling -- meaning less congestion, better air quality, and less traffic through our neighbourhoods. Thank you.
Bikes can and should behave much more like cars than pedestrians. They should ride on the road, not the sidewalk. They should stop at lights, and pedestrians should be able to trust them to do so. They should use lights at night. And — of course, duh — they should ride in the right direction on one-way streets. None of this is a question of being polite; it’s the law. But in stark contrast to motorists, nearly all of whom follow nearly all the rules, most cyclists seem to treat the rules of the road as strictly optional. They’re still in the human-powered mindset of pedestrians, who feel pretty much completely unconstrained by rules."

Unfortunately, common occurrences to Ottawa during cycling season are the number of collisions, injuries and associated deaths involving bicycles. Many of Ottawa roads are quite simply and strictly speaking not designed, planned (especially with existing road infrastructure) or encouraging for cyclists to ride, and yet cycling is economically, environmentally, and socially most favourable. A multi-facet solution is necessary that combines policy, infrastructure, and a new City Council. It has taken till 2008 for the current City Councillors to move on an Ottawa Cycling Plan, the majority having been employed as Councillors since 2003. Five years for our current Councillors to think up that cycling is a priority in Ottawa!
