Thank you for your message regarding the Citizens for Safe Cycling platform. As someone who usually cycles to work in the summer, I strongly support improving out cycling route network and closing some of the gaps.

Looking at the city's cycling plan and proposals for bike lanes through downtown, much of the work planning routes has been done. The challenge is getting the funding to implement plans. If elected I will be working to ensure budgets include funding for cycling infrastructure.

Closing gaps in the cycling route network is necessary to address safety concerns and increase use. Adding paved shoulders on Richmond between Stonehaven and Hunt Club will close one gap, but the Eagleson overpass at Highway 417 and the railway bridge over Carling between Moodie and Herzberg.

Increasing the number of buses on rack and roll routes with bike racks is also a priority. I'm hearing from a number of residents who are waiting for a considerable period of time because not all buses have bike racks.

"I strongly believe in your projected projects in Kanata South and around the  city. I was avid cyclist in my younger years but gave it up due to safety concerns.

The problem is you may find support with city councilors but for these projects money must be found. On that note, all city councilors have to be fiscal responsible and hold city staffs accountable. You may check out my website at www.kanatasouth.info is just the tip of the iceberg of wasted money and savings to be found.

Just to provide you a detailed look at a couple of million in savings is Para Transpo in which my study being review by the APTA in the performance audit of OC Transpo.

I will always supported projects relating to safe modes of cycling and well into the future."
