CfSC policy: Newsgroup / mailing list Charter
Purpose
This newsgroup / mailing-list is operated by Citizens for Safe Cycling (CfSC), the non-profit association that promotes responsible cycling as a viable mode of transportation in the National Capital region.
This mailing list is for member and public discussions about events, projects, issues and policies that affect or may affect cycling and cyclists in Canada's National Capital region:
- cycling events and projects organized by Citizens for Safe Cycling and others related to cycling transportation, education, promotion, or safety, including safety awareness campaigns, cycling skills course announcements, advocacy action alerts and meeting notices
- CfSC policy discussions
- opportunities to improve cycling
- bicycle operation in the city
- bicycles and equipment
- changes to roads/paths and road/path maintenance
- policy proposals, such as bylaws and official plans
- transportation and cycling budget proposals
- threats to cycling and cyclists
Posting
Personal attacks on other mailing-list participants are not allowed. If you want to say something of a personal nature or directed only at one individual, use private e-mail, or post it to alt.flame, or better yet use the hot air to pump up your bicycle tires. :-)
Anyone violating this rule will have to do all the folding and stapling of the next CfSC newsletter. Repeat offenders will be required to bicycle a 20-km course along the Queensway. Just kidding about the stapling and the Queensway, but seriously, lease don't tease (unless the person being teased considers it just friendly teasing), bait, mock, satirize, swear at, unconstructively criticize, or insult other newsgroup participants; such activity is specifically forbidden within the newsgroup by this charter.
